The Dagala Trek, also known as the Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek, is famous for its stunning natural beauty. It offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including Mount Kangchenjunga, with prayer flags fluttering against snow-capped mountains.

The journey passes through yak herder camps and alpine lakes, rocky terrain and diverse landscapes from juniper forests to open meadows filled with seasonal wildflowers, as well as dense oak and conifer forests. It showcases Bhutan’s rich biodiversity, including a variety of bird species and wildlife.

The trek includes both ascents and descents, reaching elevations of 4,450m. Each day brings new and rewarding views, making it an unforgettable experience for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

This 11-day tour includes a six day Dagala Trek and five days of cultural sightseeing in Thimphu and Paro. This tour provides a well-balanced experience of Bhutan’s natural beauty and rich culture.

The tour package includes all accommodations, meals, and tea or coffee during the trek, along with a porter and pony to carry your luggage. Your trekking guide will carry a first aid kit, but we recommend to bring your own prescribed medicines

Day 1 - Arrive at Paro international airport

Drive to Hotel, relax or sightseeing depending on your flight schedules. Overnight stay in Paro. Overnight stay in Paro, at elevation of 2,200 meters.
Day 2 - Paro Sightseeing

Hike: Acclimatization day hike to Tiger’s Nest which takes around 2.5 hours uphill to Tiger’s Nest. Tiger’s Nest is one of Bhutan’s iconic landmarks, perched on a cliff. The cave was discovered by Guru Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, who flew from Tibet riding on the back of a tigress, believed to be his consort appearing in the form of a tigress. Guru Rinpoche meditated in the cave for three years. The temples were built in the 17th century by Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye. An elevation ranging from 2,200-3000 meters. Overnight stay in Paro.
Day 3 - Paro to Genekha/Gur
Day 3: Paro to Genekha/Gur
Drive 1.5 hours to Genekha. Begin trekking uphill to Gur through a canopy of oak mixed with other species, and alpine meadows.

Day 4 - Gur to Labatama

Trek through deciduous shrubs, alpine meadows, and dwarf Rhododendrons and enjoy breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga, the Himalayan Mountains, and the valley below as you approach the Pagalaptsa Pass.

Hike to lakes surrounding Labatama, including Bjagay Tso Lake, and enjoy the serene beauty.

Day 6 - Labatama to Panka
Day 6: Labatama to Panka
Trek from Labatama to Panka via Tajuthang, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, crossing over Panka La Pass. Trekking through alpine meadow and Rocky Mountains.

Day 7 - Panka to Talakha
Day 7: Panka to Talakha
Trek to Talakha through dwarf Rhododendron, then descend through a mix of conifer and rhododendron forests blending into cool broadleaved forests.

Duration: 6-7 hours

Elevation: 3050-4,000 meters Overnight stay in a camp at Talakha.
Day 8 - Talakha to Chamgang, Thimphu

Trek to Chamgang, descending through cool broadleaved forest. The Dagala trek concludes at Chamgang, followed by a one-hour drive to Thimphu.

Visit: National Memorial Chorten, is a prominent religious structure and It was built in 1974 in memory of the late third king of Bhutan

Explore: Buddha Dordenma, a massive golden Buddha statue 51.5 meters tall, it is one of the largest Buddha statues in the world. Situated on a hill overlooking Thimphu city.

Visit: Takins preserve, Takin is a national animal, unique mammal with a goat-like appearance and is revered in Bhutanese culture and folklore.

Visit: Handmade paper factory, established to preserve the ancient’s Bhutanese tradition of paper making

Visit: Tashichho Dzong, Trashichho Dzong houses the throne room of the King of Bhutan and serves as the summer residence of central monastic body and administrative center. Overnight stay in Thimphu at elevation of 2,200 meters.
Day 10 - Thimphu to Paro

Drive 1.5 hours to Paro and sightseeing.

Visit: National Museum, also known as the Ta-dzong (Watchtower). It is a prominent cultural institution that showcases the rich cultural heritage and history of Bhutan. The museum displays a wide array of artifacts, artworks, textiles and household items that highlight Bhutanese history, religion, and culture.

Visit: Kyichu Lhakhang located in the Paro valley, it is the oldest temple in the country. King Songtsen Gampo built 108 temples in the 7th century to subdue powerful demoness. In Bhutan, there are two temples built by the king Sontsen Gampo, Jambay Lhakhang in central Bhutan, Bumthang and Kyichu Lhakhang in western Bhutan, Paro. Both Jambay Lhakhang and Kyichu Lhakhang are not only revered as sacred sites but also serve as significant cultural and historical landmarks in Bhutan, attracting visitors from around the world.
